Darcel

Darcel is best known for her role as principal dancer of the hit television show “Solid Gold.”  Darcel’s presence on Solid Gold brought diversity to national television and inspired women, men, dancers and people of color to dream bigger. Darcel’s success continued in film and on Broadwaywith Xanadu, The Great White Hope, Mame, Scrooge, The Last Two Married Couples, Night Shift, Funny Girl and Jesus Christ Superstar.

After leaving Solid Gold in 1986, Darcel devoted herself full-time to dance ministry. Darcel is known as the Mother of Praise Dance. Her dance ministries and praise dancers can be found throughout the US, Africa and the Philippines.  Darcel’s prophetic dance style and choreography has been featured at the Christmas, Easter and 4th of July productions for the Trinity Broadcasting Network.

Darcel is the director of Funk Fusion, a unique dance company featuring seasoned women ages 40 to 60+. She is the author of “Darcel Solid Gold”, a candid account of her life behind the scenes of Solid Gold, being married to a legendary Temptation and how she used dance to heal the wounds of sexual assault and domestic violence and achieved true happiness.Today, Darcel is an accomplished choreographer, dance and fitness instructor, author, producer and motivational speaker. She is a longtime advocate for using dance as a medium of therapy, inspiration, transformation and empowerment for women of all ages and backgrounds.
